Rx Food App is an application designed to help individuals living with diabetes better manage their nutritional needs. Since the initial launch the application has expanded to help other people living with chronic illness.
Product Strategy, Product Design, Web Development, Marketing, Branding
Using machine vision and learning the app is designed to make it easy to log your daily food habits. All you have to do is take a quick picture of your food and the app works in the background to identify what you just ate. Then in partnership with a doctor, nutritionist or any other clinician managing your care the app can make recommendations about how to better manage your nutritional need
"
I try to manage my disease through diet. I’ve changed my habits using online research but even after six months, my glucose levels aren’t going down. I’m starting to give up. ”
Patient living with type 2 diabetes
The big challenge was to create a design language that felt credible and reliable without it feeling too cold and clinical. How might we invite people to take small steps towards achieving their goals?
Working with doctors and nutritionists we learned that big goals aren't achieved all at once but instead are achieved by taking small steps towards realistic goals. Working with clinicians patients set goals that they can manage and their clinician can easily nudge them along.
Both doctors and patients aren't sure of where to begin when it comes to nutrition. They don't fully understand itsand often rely solely on medication to manage disease. Both the app and clinical website help unlock the potential of nutrition in treating illness.
